All the Eggs!

describe the image

For many years the Large EGG was our most popular size. But as consumers increased the frequency of their outdoor cooking, they discovered that entire meals could be cooked over the coals and even learned they could cook several meals at once, they decided that large for them wasn't large enough. We realized there was a substantial demand for an even bigger EGG so we developed the XL Big Green Egg.

Large Big Green EggThe Large EGG is still our most popular size and is able to easily handle the cooking needs of most families.

Medium Big Green EggThe Medium EGG is a good size for smaller families of two to four people.

Small Big Green EggThe Small EGG is good for individuals or small families. It can be used for tailgating and also is an appropriate supplement to a Large or Medium EGG.

Mini Big Green EggThe Mini EGG is a good choice for picnics and tailgating when you want the EGGsperience to be portable

Cute  "Mini" Big Green Egg"

The Big Green Egg is the World's Best Smoker and Grill, giving it unmatched cooking flexibility. Whether you want to tackle high temperature, quick searing for the perfect rare steak, cook a whole chicken at a more moderate temperature, or tenderize a low-and-slow ten-hour brisket, you just can't beat the EGG® when it comes to effortless cooking and sensational eating.

Grilling refers to cooking foods at moderate to high temperatures for a relatively short period of time. This involves starting with temperatures sufficiently hot to sear the steaks, chops and vegetables and then cooking them briefly. Overcooking can result in dry, not-very-flavorful foods. The EGG can readily reach and maintain 750°F to ensure steakhouse searing. However, the EGG easily maintains 300° to 400°F range temperatures for foods that require more gentle cooking or a long cooking time.

Successful smoking utilizes a combination of smoldering wood and low temperatures. Temperatures in the 200° to 275°F range are perfect for smoking. The thick ceramic walls of the EGG insulate and hold the heat so well that these temperatures are easily maintained for several hours without making any adjustments once the temperature has stabilized. Using our Natural Lump Charcoal to fuel the EGG, it is easy to cook for 24 hours straight without having to replenish the charcoal. If you mix well-soaked wood smoking chips in with the charcoal when you load the EGG, it will be possible to smoke your favorite barbecued food literally around the clock to tenderize it and develop the smoky flavor that has become so popular today. How to assemble a Big Green Egg

Our most Popular Eggcessories

BGE natural charcoalThe EGG® will cook most efficiently using natural lump charcoal. Big Green Egg lump charcoal is made from a selection of 100% hardwoods. It burns hotter and cleaner and lights faster and easier than briquettes. The amount of ash produced is a fraction of what briquettes produce, which means less frequent ash removal is required. Use either our electric lighter or our natural fire starters and you'll be ready to cook in about 10 minutes; never use lighter fluid.

Nests are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. A low tripod stand is available for the Mini EGG and Chiminea.

BGE composite shelves

Composite material EGG Shelves are available for the Small, Medium, Large and XL EGGs. Two shelves are included, one on each side of the EGG, and you can fold the shelves down when not in use. An optional third middle shelf is available for the Large and XL EGGs.

BGE plate setter

The Plate Setter can be used several different ways, with the legs facing up or down. With the legs facing down, the legs rest directly on the Fire Ring and the Plate Setter provides a cooking surface at the lip level of the bottom half of the Big Green Egg. In this position you place a baking stone on top of the Plate Setter and, in effect, turn the Big Green Egg into a brick oven. This set-up is great for pizza, bread, pie or any other dish that you would bake. Chocolate chip cookies are a favorite on the Big Green Egg.

The Plate Setter can also be placed on the Fire Ring with the legs facing up. In this position, simply place the cooking grid on the three ceramic legs and turn your Big Green Egg into a convection oven. You can place a roast directly on the cooking grid or in a V-Rack. Clean up is easy because the ceramic Plate Setter is self cleaning from the heat inside the EGG®, but you can also set a Drip Pan directly on the Plate Setter.
